Honoring DC's own Marvin Gaye

Did you know the prince of soul is from the district?! That’s right, Marvin Gaye hailed from the District of Columbia.  The legendary singer who helped shape the sounds of Motown would have been 80 years old last week.  In honor of his birthday, Gaye was immortalized on a commemorative USPS postage stamp.

Want to learn more about Marvin Gaye and the city that made him? We highly recommend our Music & Murals tour of U St.  Historically known as "Black Broadway", the corridor is still awash in sound & color. The stunning murals which decorate this busy DC thoroughfare (including one of Marvin Gaye) tell the story of the city's musical history from jazz to Go-Go, rock & roll to r & b, soul to gospel. Our tour is both fun and informative, perfect for locals and travelers alike.  Book you Music & Murals experience TODAY!
