Fall 2022

Submit your application if you would like to be considered for Fall internships & tour guide training. Work begins now!

Hi! We’re Aaron and Rachel and we own a tour company named Historic America based in Washington, DC. We need passionate, energetic history lovers (basically, geeks like us) to join our internship & tour guide team for the Fall of 2022.

This is a fun, flexible and fascinating opportunity. Perhaps you’re pursuing an exciting career path in history and historical interpretation. Maybe you’d like to learn more about digital content creation or develop your strength as a writer or researcher. Whatever the point of entry, if you’d like to gain new skill sets and help us share the American story with others - this is THE opportunity for you! Did we mention that we can also work with you to receive college credit?

These are some of the projects where we need your help…

…and much more!

There’s also our TOUR GUIDE TRAINING PROGRAM. Historic America will train you and turn you loose to talk American history with interesting tour groups, helping you grow as a storyteller and develop a presentational style. All trained Historic America tour guides are paid for the tours they lead.

Please take the next steps by completing the informational fields below & emailing us a copy of your resume + requested writing prompts (instructions at bottom of the page). We’ll contact you directly and we look forward to meeting you!

After submitting your information, send the following important documents to admin@historicamerica.org

  1. A PDF copy of your resume.

  2. A PDF copy of two (2) writing prompts. Put together, both prompts should be no more than one typed page, and should take no more than 30 minutes to create. Don’t overthink it, just give us your first impressions!

    • Design a Tour: Take 2-3 sentences to explain a new tour idea that would appeal to both out-of-town tourists and DC locals looking to learn more about their city. Then, make a short list of potential partners for this new tour and explain why they’d be interested and make a good match! Is there a restaurant we could feature in the neighborhood? A nearby hotel that you think matches the theme of the tour? A local shop that could give guests a free sample if we team up?

    • Podcast/Blog/Video Description: In a short paragraph, describe either a podcast episode, blog post OR video we could create to help promote your new tour. Is your podcast/blog/video a deep dive into the history of a particular stop? Is it a comparison/contrast between similar landmarks in other cities? This isn’t an entire podcast or blog writeup, rather a short “pitch” or summary.
