(York, Clark's servant and friend since childhood became a main focus by the Indians throughout their travels.  The Indians were captivated by his large physique, hair and skin color.  When York removed his hat, the Indian Le Borgne proclaimed he beheld "big medicine".  York was also given voting rights on all decisions pertaining to the expedition.)
